As an additional safety measure, the painting chamber is shut down in the event of an electric motor or automation system failure, or in the event of excessive pressure or vacuum caused by operator error. This helps prevent damage to the painting booth caused by it collapsing, because in the event of an emergency—such as when only the extraction motor remains running or a damper malfunctions— a very strong vacuum is created, making it extremely difficult to open the exit door—which would endanger the employee inside—and could cause the paint booth structure to collapse. This is the most highly recommended automatic safety feature for a paint booth.
Price for installation with a paint booth: €300 + VAT; price for standalone installation: €360 + VAT + travel expenses.
Paint Booth Pressure Control:
To achieve a high-quality paint finish on a part, the air pressure inside the spray booth is critical; it should be between 5 and 20 Pa, because:
When painting at a pressure lower than 0 Pa, dust is drawn out of the room.
Painting at a pressure higher than 30 Pa can cause air turbulence, which also compromises paint quality.
1 Pa = 0.00001 bar; it is practically impossible to determine such a low pressure “by eye,” so we recommend using pressure gauges for measurement and either a mechanical or electronic control method. Whichever method you choose, you’ll also benefit from fuel savings during the winter, as you can reduce the airflow, thereby achieving a higher temperature in the paint booth; in addition, the dampers can be closed at night, preventing the interior of the paint booth from being cooled by the air ducts.
Mechanical control:
A pressure gauge is installed in the paint booth control cabinet to display the pressure. The pressure is adjusted by manually adjusting the dampers, while another operator monitors the pressure inside the paint booth. Dampers and a pressure gauge are required.
Electronic control:
A pressure gauge is mounted on the paint booth control panel to display the pressure. The pressure is adjusted using switches or potentiometers. Once the job is complete, the dampers close; they open automatically when the paint booth is turned on. Dampers, actuators, a pressure gauge, and control and automation systems are required.
Pressure gauge with enclosure and wiring only: 230€ + VAT;
A pressure gauge with a housing and switches/potentiometers, plus connection to the actuators and automation system (automation components included in the price) costs 590€ + VAT. This price does not include the installation of valves or actuators, nor the running of cables to the control cabinet;
Damper: €250 + VAT (2 units required) – We recommend this even without any automation;
Actuators are required for electronic damper control:
Actuator without memory (when the spray booth is turned on, the dampers will open fully and be adjusted using switches) 170€ + VAT (2 units required);
Actuator with memory (when the paint booth is turned on, the dampers will return to the same position as set by the potentiometer) 240€ + VAT (2 units required).
EXAMPLE: To control the dampers electronically, you will need a pressure gauge with switches, dampers, and actuators: 490 + 2 × 250 + 2 × 170 (170€ + VAT or 240€ + VAT). This price includes the automation system and pressure gauge connection; however, the installation of the dampers and actuators is billed as part of the air line installation.
Other accessories:
Installation of a timer so that, when the drying function is activated, the motors start only when the damper is in the fully open position. €200 + VAT;
The price of this add-on is €145 + VAT if electronically controlled dampers or pressure protection devices are installed at the same time.
